Ryan Stinnett

Ryan joined CBS 8 and ABC Montgomery in June 2014, traveling just down the road from Birmingham where he worked for The Weather Factory providing daily forecasts, weather data and severe weather information for James Spann and his weather team at ABC 33/40. As an Alabama native, Ryan is familiar with our wide ranging weather, having lived through the F5 tornado of 1998, 2011’s EF4 tornado, and a number of hurricanes including Ivan in 2004. Ryan spent time on the coast at WKRG News 5 in Mobile and also as a student at the University of South Alabama, where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology. From the Alabama Shores to the Magnolia state, Ryan went on to receive his Master’s degree in Geosciences with a concentration in Meteorology from Mississippi State. At MSU he was a part of the 3-time National Champion Forecasting team, along with being tournament champion beating out faculty and staff from MIT, University of Georgia and Penn State. Ryan is thrilled to call the River Region home. When Ryan isn’t tracking the latest storm he enjoys spending time with friends, watching college football, finding the best BBQ, cheering on his South Alabama Jaguars, and loves coming home to his happy dog, a pug, named Tyson. Ryan is looking forward to meeting new people, so if you see him around town, please make sure you come up and say hello!
