Another 2nd Congressional District Candidate Announces
Rich Hobson was campaign manager for Roy Moore's U.S. Senate bid.
Rich Hobson had been at Roy Moore’s side almost from the beginning, and he says he has Moore’s complete backing in his bid to unseat Republican Congresswoman Martha Roby.
Hobson made his announcement on the steps of the state capitol building, saying his campaign will focus on “rebuilding the military”, Controlling immigration–including building a wall on the U.S./Mexico border, reducing the size of the Federal Government, and restoring Judeo-Christian values.
He says Moore’s loss last month was a “political assassination” by the liberal media and mainstream Republicans. Democrat Doug Jones was sworn in to the U.S. Senate this morning.
Hobson will run in the June 5th Republican Primary, as will incumbent Roby, who has been re-elected three times to two year terms.
Incumbent Roby issued this statement regarding Hobson’s announcement:
“In the 2010 election, Martha Roby beat Democrat Bobby Bright to turn AL-02 red again. With Democrats in Alabama more energized than ever before and Nancy Pelosi targeting our district, it is critical to nominate a responsible conservative who can keep this vital seat in Republicans’ hands. From her work on behalf of our veterans and the military — including her recent efforts to help bring the F-35 mission to Montgomery — to her support of Alabama’s farmers, Martha Roby is the clear conservative choice for this seat.”
