We invite you to join us for the 45th Annual Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon, which you can see Live on CBS 8 Monday from 7:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. This event raised 60.5 million dollars last year.
The millions raised help those with various forms of muscular dystrophy through research, health care, support, recovery and education. The Muscular Dystrophy Association relies almost entirely on private donations.
That's where you come in. Last year, CBS 8 helped raise more than $347,000 in our area. That money is vital to improving patients' lives and to funding research that hopefully will lead to cures for neuromuscular diseases.
Even a pledge of as little as $30 will pay for a flu shot, which is critically important for patients. MDA spends about $74 a minute on research, so while the pledge dollars add up, they are also spent quickly throughout the year.
An $800 pledge will send a child to MDA camp. In Alabama, children go to Camp ASCCA in Tallapoosa County, where they spend valuable time making friends and getting away from the difficult circumstances they otherwise face.
Join Ashley McDonald, Stefanie Hicks and Glenn Halbrooks on Monday from 7:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. as we introduce you to the children and adults in our area who are counting on your help. You will see the phone number to call to make your pledge.
All of us at CBS 8 appreciate your support! |
