Event Description

Pike Road Fire Department
9/11 Commemoration

The Pike Road Fire Department and the Ladies Auxiliary along with area citizens will gather for a ceremony to remember our nation’s fallen firefighters on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 beginning at 6:30p.m. at Pike Road Town Hall located at 9575 Vaughn Rd. This day is set aside each year to remember those who died on this horrific day.

The ceremony will pay tribute to the 343 fallen firefighters who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. This year marks the twelfth anniversary of the tragic events that took place in Pennsylvania, New York and Washington DC.

Please join The Pike Road Fire Department and Ladies Auxiliary as we remember the events from twelve years ago – let us remember those lost but join us in recognizing those who sacrifice their life each day for the citizens of Pike Road and surrounding areas. In addition to fire department personnel, Mayor Gordon Stone, Chief Derrick Cunningham along with other community leaders will be in attendance. Keynote speaker is Carlos Bersabe, USAF & firefighter. Special music will be provided by Rachel Love. In addition to the speakers & music, a candlelight service will take place. A balloon release will follow the ceremony. The youth group from Saint James United Methodist Church will also be in attendance to assist with the event.

Bring the family to Pike Road for this free event. Commemorative items will be given.
Please mark your calendars and plan to join us! For further fire department information and news visit our website at www.pikeroadfire.com or Pike Road Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary 9/11 Commemoration Facebook Page.
