Grand jury indicts man in plane ticket scheme
Eds: APNewsNow.
Federal prosecutors say a man accused of trying to use fraudulent documents to buy plane tickets has been indicted by a grand jury.
Authorities said Wednesday that a three count federal grand jury indictment charges 30-year-old Robert Anthony Ricks with entering an airport area in violation of security requirements and using someone else's identification to illegally enter an aircraft or secure airport area. He's also charged with entering a secure airport area by false pretenses.
Ricks is accused of flying from Atlanta to Birmingham in one person's name, then obtaining boarding passes in someone else's name for flights to Colorado. He's also accused of trying to enter a secured area of Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport by going up a downward escalator on March 16.
It's unclear if Ricks has an attorney.
