New research shows young men in their twenties who are obese are more likely to develop serious health problems by the time they reach middle age.

The study tracked 6,500 22 year old men in Denmark over three decades.

Researchers found almost half of those considered obese developed diabetes, blood clots or had a heart attack or stroke.

Many died before reaching the age of 55.
