Breastfeeding Can Protect Against Cancer

Breastfeeding for more than 6 months may protect against breast cancer in women who are non-smokers.

New research from Spain looked at about 500 breast cancer patients and found women who had children and breastfed were diagnosed with breast cancer at a later age.

They also found non-smoking women who breastfed their babies for longer than six months were more likely to be diagnosed with breast cancer later in life.

Women who smoked tended to be diagnosed with breast cancer young and got no benefit from breastfeeding longer.
