More children are getting CT Scans for abdominal pain.

Emergency room doctors are ordering the scans to check for appendicitis.

A new study in the Journal of Radiology finds that the number of scans has increased each year between 1999 and 2007, but the number of patients with appendicitis has not.

Experts say CT Scans expose children to harmful radiation and that an ultrasound should be the first option.

If the results are still unclear, then a child should get a CT Scan.
