Calcium Supplements Carry Risks for Women

Women who take large doses of calcium could be at higher risk for cardiovascular disease.

Researchers in sweden followed more than 61-thousand woman for almost 20 years.

They found taking calcium on top of a high calcium diet was associated with double the risk of dying from cardiovascular disease.

In the u.S., more than 60 percent of middle aged and older women take calcium supplements to prevent bone fractures.
