Doctors Asked to Cut Down on Giving Kids Antibiotics

The American Academy of Pediatrics is offering new guidelines to cut down on unneeded prescriptions of antibiotics for children with respiratory infections.

The report urges physicians to carefully distinguish between viral and bacterial infections.

Other studies have shown as many as ten million antibiotic prescriptions are written every year that are unnecessary.
