Doctors May Be Misdiagnosing Kidney Patients

Thousands of people may be having their kidney removed unnecessarily.

A study in the Lancet finds doctors are misdiagnosing many patients with a genetic disorder called TSC.

The condition causes tumors on the kidney and doctors often mistake it for cancer and remove the organ.

Researchers say surgery is not necessary because medication can usually dissolve the tumors.
