Flu Vaccine Recommendations

By Molly Clifton

The American Academy of Pediatrics is recommending all children ages 6 months or older should get a flu shot as soon as the vaccine is available.

The group says two vaccines are available this year.

One protects against four strains of the virus for the first time. The other protects against three strains.

The AAP says a special effort should be made to vaccinate those in vulnerable groups including children with chronic health conditions and pregnant women.
