Genetic Risk Factors for Some Birth Defects Identified

An international team of doctors has indentified two genetic factors associated with the skull closing early in infants.

Children with the birth defect can have abnormally shaped heads and have neurological and visual problems.

Researchers say the next step is to develop a blood test to pinpoint those genetic faults in expectant mothers.
