The CDC has compiled hard numbers from across the country linking the Human Papilloma-virus, or HPV, to many different kinds of cancer.

Doctors diagnosed an average of about 33,000 people with HPV related cancers, each year between 2004 and 2008.

Cervical cancer was the most common, with throat cancer a close second.

CDC officials say many of these could have been prevented with the HPV vaccine.
