Having Joint Replacement Surgery Puts Your Heart at Risk

People who undergo hip or knee replacement surgery are at an increased risk for a heart attack.

The risk is greatest in the first two weeks following the operation.

A new study in the archives of internal medicine says the risk is greatest for patients 80 years or older.

There was no increased risk for patients who were younger than 60 years old.
