Hormone Therapy Can Help Protect Your Mental Health

By Molly Grady

A new study suggests older women who use hormone therapy can reduce their risk of developing Alzheimer's disease.

Researchers at Johns Hopkins University studied 1700 women, 65 or older, over more than a decade.

Those who used hormones within 5 years of menopause had a 30 percent lower risk of developing Alzheimer's.

Doctors say more research is needed before new recommendations about hormone use are made for older women.
