Eating disorders are not limited to young people.

A study of women over 50 found more than three percent reported binge eating, and nearly eight percent purged.

The study in the International Journal of Eating Disorders found up to two-thirds of women said they were unhappy with their overall appearance and said it had a negative impact on their lives.

The women also reported using diet pills, excessive exercise and laxatives to lose weight.

Some 70 percent said they were also on a diet.
