Mothers Who Indulge Can Cause Problems for their Kids Later in Life

Pregnant mothers who indulge in high-fat, sugary diets may be more likely to have children who abuse drugs and alcohol.

Researchers at the University of Florida tested their theory on pregnant rats and their off-spring.

The babies of rats on a high-fat diet drank significantly more alcohol in adulthood and had higher levels of fat in their bloodstream.

The babies of rats on a high-sugar diet also drank more alcohol, weighed more and became over excited after taking low doses of amphetamines.
