NTSB Wants to Lower the Legal Blood Alcohol Limit

By Molly Clifton

The National Transportation Safety Board is urging states to cut their legal blood alcohol limit nearly in half from 0.8 to 0.5.

NTSB officials say alcohol begins to affect perception and visual functions at 0.5, and in 100 countries around the world, 0.5 is the standard.

The board also wants all convicted DUI offenders to use breathalyzer ignition locks on their cars.
