New Program Helps Reduce Complications After Surgery

A patient care program called “I Cough” seems to help lower the complications that often follow surgery.

Researchers from B oston University Medical Center say the incidence of both postoperative pneumonia and unplanned intubations went down significantly after the program was implemented.

The inexpensive program focuses on patient education, early mobility, as well as interventions such as deep breathing.
