Smokers who quit may gain more weight than previously thought.

A new study finds the average smoker gains a little more than 10 pounds a year after giving up cigarettes.

That's more than the six pounds doctors usually quote.

However, medical experts say the health benefits of quitting far outweigh the modest gain.
