The Health Benefits of Owning a Pet

Owning a pet, particularly a dog, may be good for your heart.

The American Heart association says owning a dog seems to be linked to a reduced risk of heart disease.

But it’s not clear whether owning a pet actually lowers the risk or whether it’s simply the fact that healthier people tend to have pets.

Experts point out that people with dogs are more physically active than non-dog owners because they go for walks with their pets.

Animals are also known to help reduce stress.
