What’s the Best Heart Surgery for Diabetics?

For diabetics with coronary artery disease in more than one artery, bypass surgery and angioplasty lead to similar long-term benefits, according to a new study in JAMA.

Researchers say in the first two years following treatment, bypass surgery does provide slightly better outcomes in terms of angina relief and fewer physical limitations.

After two years, the differences between the procedures disappeared.
