Alabama Forming Plan to Cope with Shooting Incidents

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The state of Alabama is developing a plan for handling cases like the school shooting in Connecticut.

 

The state's homeland security agency is formulating a strategic plan for preventing and responding to shootings that might happen at various kinds of facilities.

 

Gov. Robert Bentley says the state has been working for some time on a coordinated effort to handle emergencies. He asked Homeland Security on Monday to develop a plan for active shooters.

 

State Homeland Security Director Spencer Collier says it's impossible to say when such training might be needed for law enforcement, so the key is preparinplug ahead of time.
