MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A summary of action in the Alabama Legislature on Wednesday, the 15th meeting day of the regular session:

 

HOUSE:

 

-House gave final passage to a bill to make it a crime to threaten utility workers. Goes to governor.

 

-Approved a Senate-passed bill for a bond issue to help some counties come up with the matching funds to take advantage of a federal road building program. Goes back to Senate.

 

SENATE:

 

-Approved the governor's appointment of Secretary of State Beth Chapman as a trustee of the University of Montevallo.

 

-Approved a proposed constitutional amendment to prohibit the application of a foreign law that violates rights provided in the state constitution. Goes to House.

 

-Approved a bill strengthening the restrictions on public employees hiring relatives. Goes to House.

 

-Approved a bill to create the possibility of parole for some juveniles convicted of capital murder. Goes to House.

 

COMMITTEES:

 

-House Constitution, Campaigns and Elections Committee approved a bill to allow displays of the Ten Commandments and other historic documents in public buildings. Goes to House.

 

-Subcommittee of House Education policy Committee voted against a bill that would have rejected the common core standards for education. Goes to House.

 

AGENDA:

 

-House meets at 1 p.m. on April 2 and Senate meets at 1:30 p.m. April 2.
