135 Soldiers Return Home in Ft. Deposit After Year-Long Deployment

More than 100 soldiers are back home with their families. Today they marched into the Fort Deposit Municipal Complex marking the end of their year-long deployment in Afghanistan.

Families lined the streets waiting for their loved ones to return including little Kyley Mills. She knows she's getting a surprise.

"She had no idea he was coming home at all," her mother Megan Mills says.

Her dad is apart of the 781st Transportation Company. He's been in Afghanistan for the last year, and her surprise was seeing him walk through the doors.

Kyley says she was happy when he saw him. "I waved and said hey."

135 soldiers make up the 781st Unit. Mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, daughters and sons have been away from their families.

They've missed the Christmas holidays and birthdays, and for some, they've missed their child being born.

"I'm so happy!" says Angie Wells.

Wells had her baby, Justin, four months ago. This is the first time her husband has held his son.

The 781st Unit was deployed last February in support of "Operation Enduring Freedom." They were on a security mission, which is one of the most dangerous.

"It's an amazing trip. it changes you. I'm glad I went for sure," says Colby Parker.

These men and women in uniform don't know what the future holds, and if they will be deployed again, but right now, nothing else matters. They're with their families. This is the moment they've been waiting for.

"I'm glad to come home to the ones that love me and care about me," says Adam Barr.

This was the third time the 781st Unit has been deployed, and this time, their mission had changed four times.

They were originally going to Kuwait.

The 781st Unit is the smallest company in the battalion.
