An Alabama State University professor has filed a lawsuit against ASU for racial discrimination.

John Garland says he was targeted by the historically black university because he's white.

The suit alleges that he spoke out against the discrimination, but was demoted for his comments.

Alabama State University released a statement today saying:  "ASU was served with a copy of the lawsuit today and since it concerns an on-going and active legal case involving ASU, the University has no comment."
