Adult, Children Hurt in Montgomery Apartment Fire

Montgomery firefighters confirm to CBS 8 News that an adult and two children were hurt in a fire at an apartment complex Wednesday night.

You could see the smoke and flames from the CBS 8 Live Alfa SkyCam. The fire happened at Courtyards at Garden Glen apartments on Gas Light Curve, which is just off Calmar Drive.

Firefighters got the call shortly after 9 p.m. They say 30 firefighters and 12 units rushed to the scene and had the fire under control in 23 minutes.

Investigators say the adult and two children were hurt when they jumped from the second story and were hurt in their fall. Their injuries are said to be non life-threatening.

Two families have been displaced. Apartment managers are making arrangments to relocate them, according to firefighters. Investigators say two units received heavy damage, two others had smoke and water damage.

They say it appears the fire started on the second floor. An investigation is underway to determine how the fire started.
