New Affordable Healthcare Center Coming to SelmaPeople in Selma will soon have another option for affordable healthcare thanks to a $650,000 dollar grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The grant was announced at the Rural Health Medical Program administrative offices in Selma Thursday afternoon. The money will allow the organization to open a community healthcare center in the city. Health officials say the new clinic will only charge patients according to their ability to pay. "The estimates are that with this money this will enable this clinic right here in Selma to provide primary care to up to 8000 additional people who today are unserved or underserved," said HHS Regin VII Director Jay Angoff. Health officials say the goal of community health centers is to help improve public health. |
