An Alabama woman has been sentenced to more than five years in prison for filing false claims, access device fraud and aggravated identity theft.

Crystal Sayles was sentenced Thursday to 64 months on stolen identity refund fraud charges. Sayles is expected to serve three years on supervised release following her prison term.

Sayles, who pleaded guilty in May this year, was ordered to pay more than $1 million in restitution. She also forfeited a Mercedes Benz as part of her plea deal agreement.

A plea agreement claims Sayles and others were involved with the filing of at least 482 fraudulent tax returns using stolen identities. The returns sought over $2 million in tax refunds.

The indictment alleges that the refunds were often directed to prepaid debit cards.
