Alabama Childhood Obesity Rates Still on the Rise
Alabama's childhood obesity rates are continuing to climb, but a little more slowly than they have in the past.
According to the Montgomery Advertiser obesity rates for Alabama's children and teens are up nearly 5 percent since 1999.
That's in spite of efforts by the Alabama Department of Education to control what kinds of snacks are sold in vending machines on school campuses.
The good news is Alabama's obesity rate isn't spiking quite as quickly as other states.
But the state still ranked 14th in childhood obesity in 2010.
