Alabama Hunters are Under Reporting Kills
A state conservation official says Alabama hunters didn't do a good enough job reporting all the deer they killed this hunting season.
That's according to the director of the state wildlife and freshwater fisheries division.
According to state statistics alabama hunters reported killing more than 18,500 deer this season, which ends monday as legal hunting closes in southwest alabama.
Conservation leaders say that's only a small fraction of the number of deer actually killed.
The state agency tried to require hunters to report their kills this season, but legislative opponents blocked the rule saying it was impractical for hunters who may not have immediate access to technology.
