Alabama State Students Rally for Presidential Search

A small group of Alabama State University faculty and students are rallying in support of the search for their next president.

The school has been embroiled in controversy after a forensic audit ordered by the governor raised concerns of possible misspending at Alabama State. The school has sued the audit firm and disputes the firm's preliminary findings.

Gov. Robert Bentley had recommended the university's board of trustees halt its search, but the board has decided to move forward and this week named four finalists.

AL.com reports

about two dozen people gathered Friday outside the Levi Watkins Learning Center. Those in attendance say they support moving forward with the search and the hiring of a new university president.
