The city of Andalusia has received its largest grant in history to improve one of its busiest streets in town...

The Alabama Transportation Rehabilitation and Improvement Program, also known as ATRIP, awarded the city an $8.6 million dollar grant to make improvements to South Three Notch Street.

It'll be resurfaced and utilities will be re-done. The street is known as the medical center for Andalusia, home to about 30 medical facilities.

This is the fourth largest grant in the state. City leaders say construction will take about one year. They hope to start construction this Christmas.
