Auburn University Researcher Dies At Florida Beach

An Auburn University administrator lost his life in a possible drowning at a Florida beach.

The Walton County sheriff's office said Prattville local, 63-year-old Guerry Lowther Junior. died Tuesday after being pulled from the waters of Blue Mountain Beach. Authorities said Lowther may have suffered a medical emergency while in the water.

He was the senior analyst in Auburn's Office of Institutional Research and Assessment and served on multiple Auburn committees. Lowther was also a member of the Alabama Commission on Higher Education's Financial Advisory Council, and the Higher Education Information Advisory Group Steering Committee.
