Authorities in Dallas County say video technology, and video sharing websites like YouTube, are changing the way police investigate some crimes.

Authorities say posting video of fights, drugs and gang activities have become the latest trend.

So law enforcement agencies are using those videos as evidence more and more -- to help identify, arrest, and prosecute suspects.

"YouTube is real big in our society right now. Everyone wants to take videos and post them on YouTube. You'd be surprised how many people are charged with those videos," said Sgt. Mike Granthum with the Dallas Co. Sheriff's Office.

Video is also increasingly being used to help secure buildings and property throughout the county.
