Baseball in big business in Troy this week. The city is holding an annual youth league state championship and it's drawing hundreds to the area.

The Dixie League Youth Baseball O-Zone Championship kicked off in Troy last Friday. More than 450 players and coaches from all over Alabama are in Pike County for the event.

Troy has been hosting the tournament nearly every year since 1995. Many local businesses, like hotels and restaurants, say the extra traffic makes a difference during the quieter summer months.

"Sometimes it'll be slow before the tournament gets here and we can always tell when people are starting to come in for the tournaments. The hotels start filling up, so we start getting busier, start seeing different groups of people," said Shanna Whitehead of Santa Fe Cattle Company in Troy.

The tournament is scheduled to end Friday. The City also hopes to host the O-Zone World Series in 2016.
