Chief Justice Roy Moore's former campaign spokeswoman is running for the state Senate on a platform of ending the lack of Republican women in the Senate.

Suzelle Josey of Autauga County says the Senate needs the perspective of a Republican woman. The Senate currently has five women. Four are Democrats and one is an independent. Josey said Thursday they shouldn't be the only women speaking out on family value issues in the Senate.

Josey will challenge the Republican incumbent in Senate District 30, attorney Bryan Taylor of Prattville, in the Republican primary June 3. Taylor served on former Gov. Bob Riley's staff before being elected to the Senate.
