Bullock County Leaders Invest In Local Business
Fifteen new jobs are expected to come to Bullock County- but, at a price tag of nearly $20,000 of tax payer money.
The Bullock County Commission and Development Authority approved awarding $19,860 dollars to the automotive supplier Ace Tech. It's an incentive to help them expand. The company will spend 4 times that.
Bullock County is one of the poorest counties in the state but they say $350-400,000 comes into the county through a 1 percent industrial sales tax, that money is used for economic development.
Bullock County Commission Chairman Ron Smith said, "We want to pull ourself up by our own boot strap, we are not looking for a handout. We are looking for a hand up. We are here, we want to invest."
County leaders believe the investment will pay off with increased tax contributions as business goes up.
