Businesses Prepare For Auburn Fan Hype

After Auburn's win over Georgia Saturday, fan hype is high going into the Iron Bowl in two weeks.  And local business managers say they are already preparing for a spike in sales.

"We will hire additional employees just for that weekend, we will hire security for that weekend, which we don't do but only on that weekend," says Trey Johnston, CEO of J. and M. Bookstores in Auburn.

Tiger Rags had a line out the door Sunday for the store's traditional score shirt. Employees say they are ordering more shirts and gearing up for what they hope will be a Tiger win over the Tide.

Jerry Rigby, the President of Tiger Rags, says they will need "lots of blank tee shirts because [they] think this could be a repeat two weeks from now."

The fan hype is even changing business hours in Montgomery. Campus Spirit employees say they will open on Thanksgiving night for last minute Iron Bowl Shoppers. Fans are also prepping for tailgates for the big game, and they say it will be a game to remember.

"The Iron Bowl is something you get excited for regardless of how Auburn is. It's a different game. You've got to throw statistics out of there. It can go either person's way, so its definitely going to be one to remember," says J.D. Salter, an Auburn student.

Businesses that carry spirit gear all say they have seen an increase in sales for Auburn wear this season.
