House District 74 candidate Charlotte Meadows says she is pleased with the results of the special election. Meadows received 32 percent of the vote and will now face Dimitri Polizos in a runoff election in November.

Meadows was joined by family and friends Tuesday night at her home as she waited for the polling results.

Meadows served on the Montgomery County School Board from 2006 to 2012, when she retired. She then took a position with Students First, a grassroots education reform organization.

Meadows has been the target of recent attack ads by the Alabama Education Asociation for her support of the Alabama Accountability Act. She says despite those ads, she will continue to run a positive campaign.
