"Champions of Character" Helping to Raise Funds for Character Ed

By Ellis Eskew

It was family fun for all ages at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Prattville as everyone came out supporting their team colors.

It was a night for "Champions of Character," and when it comes down to character education, everyone is on the same team.

"It's absolutely a positive thing. You know, when I think of Prattville, Alabama I do think of family and good moral fiber, really. And the Character Coaltion is just a great way to advertise that and really to help us bring our children up in an environment that we would like to be brought up in ourselves, I guess," said Greg Bowen.

The Prattville-Autauga Character Coaltion provides the resources for schools to do just that.

"Part of what we do is work with the schools and provide curriculum that is focused on good character traits to give teachers tools to reach out to these students, who are the future leaders of our community," said Coalition Board Member Susan Poole.

These future leaders are getting the support they need as the community comes together to cheer them on... creating a win-win situation for everyone involved.

"Autauga County schools are already wonderful, just the teachers they hire and everything. So having this type of program will be even better," said Samantha Bowen.
