Former Montgomery County School Board president Charlotte Meadows has announced she will run in a special election to fill Representative Jay Love's seat.

Meadows says a desire to improve public education and instill common sense and conservative prinicples in state government is why she is choosing to run.

Meadows was elected to the school board in 2006 and served as president from 2010 until she retired last year.

She will run as a Republican.

Jay Love is stepping down from his seat in the House of Representatives August first.

Montgomery County Commissioner Dimitri Polizos has also announced he will run for the seat.
