An Alabama federal judge stripped of his caseload after his arrest on domestic violence charges will keep receiving his annual salary of nearly $200,000.

Legal experts say federal judicial rules don't let them withhold pay for Middle District of Alabama Judge Mark Fuller while a disciplinary committee reviews the case. Atlanta Police arrested him last Sunday and charged him with battery after his wife called 911 and said he was beating her.

Fuller said he was defending himself against his wife when she became violent during an argument.
