Former Ft. Deposit Officer Sentenced

By CBS 8 News

A former Fort Deposit police officer has been sentenced to three years and one month in prison for stealing money from motorists stopped on Interstate 65 in central Alabama.

U.S. District Judge Keith Watkins ordered the sentence for 25-year-old Jessie Alan Fuller, who now lives in Pensacola, Fla. Fuller pleaded guilty in April to one count of conspiracy against rights and one count of deprivation of rights under the law. He admitted that he and another officer pulled over vehicles on I-65 and took $520 from three victims, as well as a GPS device.

U.S. Attorney George Beck said another former Fort Deposit officer, Carlos Tyson Bennett of Greenville, is scheduled for trial Sept. 10.
