Georgia Fans Speak Out about Playing Bama for SEC Title

By Ashley Thompson

We're just a few days away from the SEC Championship Game between Alabama and Georgia with the winner playing for a national title.

Bama fans love the Crimson Tide... but what do the Georgia Bulldogs fans think?

Lucky. Cocky. Overrated. These are just a few of the words people in the state of Georgia used to describe Alabama football. And when it comes to Saturday's matchup, some Georgia fans don't appear to be all that worried.

"They're just not that good," says Georgia fan Brandon Todd.

Some Georgia fans are dismissing Alabama as a major threat to their season.

"I would say they've been lucky...more so than talent," says UGA fan Susan Watley.

The last time these two teams met was in 2008 and it was Alabama that came out victorious winning 41-30. But some Georgia fans say this Alabama team won't get past their top-ranked defense.

"I have great confidence in UGA. Alabama's weakness is a good defense and that's what Georgia has," says Georgia fan Valerie Whitfield.

"The defense with Rambo, Jarvis Jones, Shawn Williams and all them...they're real dangerous. I just think they'll bring it home," says fan Cory Armstrong.

When it comes to leadership, these fans say despite Georgia's previous on-the-field struggles, Mark Richt is the better coach.

"Because he's more humble with his wins," says Whitfield.

And although Alabama is the reigning national champions, fans in this state aren't buying all the Crimson Tide hype.

"Georgia has shown a lot of confidence this year and has shown everybody that we are the team to beat this year.  Alabama is still riding on their Championship from last year," says Whitfield.

"Hopefully Georgia will beat them bad enough that they won't want to say 'Roll Tide'," says Todd.

So Georgia fans are confident they will come out with the victory but them team from our state, Alabama, are the ones projected to win.
