It's been one week since Greenville experienced their first homicide of the year. Police say Ashley McDonald was shot and killed by her boyfriend outside of a party last weekend.

They do not believe suspect Jamaal Taylor intended to kill her. Today the Harrison Street Baptist Church was packed today for the funeral.

The 24-year-old was described as a beautiful person with a contagious smile. She had a passion for doing hair and a passion for becoming a better mother to her young daughter.

The Head Start program in Lowndes County Board of Education presented an award in Ashley's honor for the amount she volunteered. In just two months since the start of school, Ashley already spent more than 30 hours volunteering.

Cherrie McDonald, an aunt said, "She was so lovely and kind, she was a sweet person. Everytime I would see her she would come up and hug me and tell me she loved me. She was so sweet and I am going to miss her so much."
