Congresswoman Terri Sewell hosted her 2nd Annual 7th Congressional District Job Fair at Wallace Community College in Selma.

The number of people in attendance has been estimated in the thousands. Some of the people were looking to find work -- while others were searching for an opportunity to advance in their careers.

Sewell says more than fifty companies representing a wide range of industries were on-hand looking to hire workers.

"That was a big pre-requisite in order to participate in our job fair, you had to actually have jobs available," said Sewell.

"And for them to be right here, it's like, they get to see and hear you and pick you on the spot," said job seeker Jacquelyn Pettway.

Wilcox, Dallas and Perry counties-- the three counties with the highest unemployment rates in the state -- are all located in Sewell's congressional district.
