Local Reaction to Government Shutdown: Who's to Blame?

By Ellis Eskew

Two weeks into the partial government shutdown and just a few days away from the debt limit deadline.

We asked our Alabama News Network fans on Facebook their thoughts on who is to blame for the situation we are in as a country.

Daniel Flowers says, "I blame the nation!! This goes beyond the shutdown. It did not just start today. The republicans and the president have been at disagreement for 5 years now!!"

Brett Easterling says, "Plan after plan has been proposed by the House and rejected by the Senate and President. I think more "blame" lies at the feet of Harry Reid more than anyone."

Kim Brewer Hanson says, "I blame the choices made in all situations that have brought this nation to the point of even getting close to default. Efforts should have been made by the Government that the USA can function within a set limit without having to raise the limit."

According to a recent AP poll, 52 percent of those surveyed say  President Obama is not doing enough to cooperate with Republicans. And 63 percent say the opposite - Republicans aren't doing enough to cooperate with the president.
