The 29-year-old woman was found dead Oct. 27 at her apartment in Troy.

Wheeler has waived extradition from California, where local police arrested the suspect in the city of Oxnard after he arrived on a bus from Los Angeles.

Troy Police Chief Jimmy Ennis says his department contacted the U.S. Marshals Service and Oxnard police after receiving a tip that Wheeler was headed to California.
